A guide to elections in 2018

In this first Weekly of 2018, we take our usual look at the important elections that are set to take place in Asia over the coming year, assessing the implications for policymaking and economic growth. Most of the attention is likely to be focused on Thailand, which in November is due to hold its first national poll since a military coup in 2014. The big risk is that the election leads to a period of renewed political unrest, which derails the current recovery.
