Decoupling is back (Q4 09)

We expect the upswing in emerging Asia to stay relatively strong in coming quarters. The more trade-dependent economies will be held back by the long drawn-out recoveries that are likely in the US and in Europe. But while Asia’s rebound may fade during the course of 2010, it will not come to a complete halt. Moreover, emerging Asia’s more domestic demand focused economies should see sustained improvement in both 2010 and in 2011. Across the region, private sector spending is wellplaced to lead the recovery as stimulatory policies are phased out.
