Korea: tightening cycle nearing an end

The decision by the Bank of Korea to raise its policy rate by a further 50bp (to 3.0%) indicates the central bank’s near-term focus will remain on combating inflation. But with growth slowing and price pressures already having peaked, we think the tightening cycle will come to a finish before the end of the year.
