Retail sales and fixed investment undershot expectations, and the property sector struggled. Industrial output improved slightly but is still fairly subdued. And although the labour market remained healthy overall, it began to soften again. Q2 is shaping up to be weaker than we had anticipated and further policy support is probably needed to prevent the economy from entering a renewed downturn.
