Scope for the participation rate to rise further

While the aging of the population will continue to exert a sizeable downward influence on the participation rate in the coming years, this will probably be more than offset by further rises in the participation rates of female workers and older workers. A further increase in the overall participation rate would help to support the economy’s potential growth rate.
