Poland’s minimum wage plans, ECB stimulus

The sharp increases in the minimum wage proposed by Poland’s ruling Law and Justice party have grabbed the headlines and raised concerns about the inflation outlook. But we doubt these measures will push inflation up enough to prompt a shift on the MPC towards tightening. Indeed, the stimulus package unleashed by the ECB this week provided a reason for central banks across Central and Eastern Europe to look through above-target inflation.
