Fiscal stimulus will provide only temporary boost

The Republicans' long-awaited tax reform bill, which looks set to be signed into law this week, represents the first major legislative victory for President Donald Trump and should provide a modest boost to the economy next year. The stimulus may end up boosting inflation by more than it lifts economic growth, however, and the Fed is likely to respond with a slightly more aggressive monetary tightening.
