Peru’s central bank set to ease monetary policy further

The Central Reserve Bank of Peru’s decision to cut its policy interest rate by 25bp, to 4.00%, took most analysts by surprise, but not us. We expect one further 25bp cut, to 3.75%, over the coming months, although we don’t think that this marks that start of a major easing cycle.
