What to expect from markets after Trump & Xi meet

There’s an air of optimism in markets about the meeting between Presidents Trump and Xi at the G20 this weekend, where trade will be top of the agenda. An agreement between the two leaders might temporarily ease tensions. But it would be highly unlikely to mark a real turning point in the trade war. So even if a deal is struck, we think that any further relief for trade-sensitive assets will be short-lived.
