Polish activity data for January suggest that the economy broadly stagnated at the start of the year as the extension of virus containment measures hit the retail sector while industry remained resilient. But looking ahead, the recent weakness in German industry, shortages of key production inputs and the latest rise in new virus cases mean that the headwinds to the near-term recovery have mounted.
