Gradual slowdown ahead

GDP growth across Emerging Asia edged down in the final quarter of last year and is likely to ease further over the coming year. While in most cases the slowdown should be relatively gradual, Hong Kong (where higher interest rates could trigger a sharp fall in property prices) and Pakistan (where external imbalances are mounting) look set to slow more sharply.
