Vietnam cuts interest rates again, further easing is likely

Vietnam’s central bank (SBV) today cut its main policy rate by 50bp to 4.5%, and further rate cuts are likely given the poor economic outlook. Although life in the country appears to be slowly returning to normal after the lockdown came to an end late last month, a slump in exports will hit the trade-dependent economy hard this year.
