Bank won’t move on interest rates for a while longer

We expect the Bank of Canada to hold its policy interest rate at 0.50% next week. Although core inflation and wage growth have slowed, activity and business confidence data have been more positive lately. Additional monetary stimulus later this year, however, shouldn’t be ruled out. Public infrastructure spending won’t boost the economy, while housing investment could become a big drag.
