Last hurrah for Australian iron ore mining

Resources exports rose strongly last year, driven by a jump in iron ore exports. However, the bigger picture is that global steel output is past its peak and a sustained pick-up in mining investment is unlikely. While lithium exports have great long-term potential, the recent pull-back in lithium investment in response to falling prices means that lithium exports will continue to disappoint for now.
