Taiwan’s economy recorded another quarter of strong growth in Q2, of 3.1% q/q, on the back of a boom in exports which more than offset a further slowdown in domestic demand. This pace of growth is unlikely to be sustained, particularly as front-running of US tariffs fades. For now, though, robust GDP growth means that, even with subdued inflation pressures, the central bank will refrain from interest rate cuts.
