House prices and earnings set to gradually rebalance

The recent easing in buyer demand suggests house prices are approaching a ceiling. We envisage house price inflation falling to 2% in 2016 and 2017 – giving wages a chance to start catching up with the house price gains already seen. This easing of price growth should, in turn, create conditions in which mortgage approvals and transactions can continue to rise gradually.
