Economy on track for prolonged expansion

Japan’s economy probably achieved a sixth consecutive quarter of growth in Q2 and early signs are that the run has continued into Q3. If so this would be the longest expansion since the turn of the century. Unfortunately, the experience from previous expansions is that capacity shortages would have to intensify much further to generate strong price pressures.
