The slight rise in the ISM Manufacturing Index in March masks the unease among firms evident in the breakdown, with new orders dropping back and supplier delivery times lengthening. The further rise in the prices paid index last month could have further to go, as the rise in energy prices over the course of March will be only fully reflected in the survey this month.
