The small fall in the ISM services index leaves our activity-weighted composite index consistent with GDP growth of around 2.5% in the third quarter, while its S&P Global counterpart points to an even stronger outturn. The news on inflation was more discouraging, with a further rise in the prices paid index echoing what we saw in the manufacturing report and suggesting that headline inflation will start to pick up again in the closing stages of this year.
