Our Latin America Economics Chart Pack has been updated with the latest data and our analysis of recent developments.
Growth in Latin America last quarter was a mixed bag, with Colombia the region’s star performer while Argentina underperformed. But we think that growth will come in below consensus expectations in most countries over the next couple of years.
Headline inflation rates generally fell in August, but inflation is still likely to end the year above target across much of the region. That’s likely to limit the room for further easing in Brazil. And in Mexico and Peru we think a further rise in inflation over the coming months will put interest rate hikes on the agenda.
