Rupiah strength, palm oil worries

Bank Indonesia is likely to leave interest rates unchanged at its meeting on Thursday, but the strong recent performance of the rupiah means further cuts are likely over the coming months. Meanwhile, concerns are growing that a sharp increase in Chinese imports of US agricultural products (that were agreed to as part of the Phase One trade) will lead to a slump in imports of Malaysian and Indonesia palm oil.
