Slump in rupiah may prompt more aggressive action

The slump in the rupiah poses a major threat to Indonesia because of the country’s high level of foreign currency debt. So far, the response of the central bank has been to step up its intervention in foreign exchange markets, but if the decline in the currency accelerates, more drastic action will be required.
