Mixed signals to keep Bank on hold

The Bank of Canada is likely to upgrade its GDP growth forecasts in its new Monetary Policy Report, but we think that its expectations will prove too optimistic. While Governor Stephen Poloz may reiterate that the Bank will not slavishly follow the US Fed, we nevertheless expect the Bank to cut interest rates later this year.
