Caroline Bain
Chief Commodities Economist
Caroline Bain is the Chief Commodities Economist at Capital Economics, with overall responsibility for the Commodities Overview, Energy and Metals services. Caroline joined us from the Economist Intelligence Unit, where she was a member of the global forecasting team with particular responsibility for commodities. She is also the author of 'The Economist Guide to Commodities', with a second edition published in 2021. In 2023, Caroline was named to the Office for Budget Responsibility’s advisory panel. She has degrees in economics from Trinity College Dublin and the University of London.

Commodities Economist
Kieran is a Commodities Economist and has been with Capital Economics since 2020. He has worked across our Global, UK, and Markets teams and currently sits on our Commodities desk, primarily contributing to our Energy and Metals coverage. Kieran’s work has been featured in leading media outlets including the BBC, Bloomberg and the Financial Times. He is a graduate of the University of Exeter.

Commodities Economist
Bill Weatherburn joined Capital Economics in August 2022 and is an Economist in the Commodities team. Bill joins from the Australian Treasury, where he covered economic, revenue and fiscal policy. He has a master’s degree in Macroeconomic Policy and Financial Markets from the Barcelona School of Economics.
