Mauricio Macri has made a strong start to his term as president of Argentina, tackling some of the country’s biggest macroeconomic distortions in his first month in office. There’s work still to do – fiscal policy is yet to be tightened, and we’re no closer to a deal with holdout creditors needed to return the government to global capital markets – but progress so far has been encouraging.
