In-Person Event: UK Roundtable - Autumn Budget preview - what to expect and implications for growth and markets

Capital Economics, 100 Victoria Street, SW1E 5JL

Speakers:

This Autumn’s Budget will be a crucial test of the Burnham government’s economic strategy. With the new Chancellor under pressure to maintain fiscal discipline while delivering on the government’s policy ambitions, what could John Healey announce on 28th October? And what will the Budget mean for the UK growth outlook and for financial markets?

Join our UK and Markets economists at our London office on 14th October for a roundtable preview of the Budget and its economic and market implications. The session will assess what the Budget could look like, and what it could mean for growth, borrowing and the outlook for interest rates and gilt yields.

These hour-long sessions are designed to prepare you for the Chancellor’s statement, with plenty of opportunity for discussion and debate.

They will address key issues, including:

  • The size of the Budget: How much room does the Chancellor have to loosen fiscal policy, and what might constrain him?
  • Which taxes could rise: What are the most likely options, and what would they mean for households, businesses and the UK growth outlook?
  • How markets might respond: What could the Budget mean for gilt yields, and could it impact Bank of England rate policy?
