Japan Retail Sales (Mar. 2021)

The further rise in retail sales in March suggests that consumer spending was relatively strong in between the third and fourth waves of coronavirus. The strength in goods consumption in February and March won’t have prevented output from falling last quarter though, given that most of the weakness came from spending on services.
