Bank of Korea to play it safe

The Bank of Korea (BoK) has raised interest rates by 25bp five times so far this cycle, and further hikes looked nailed on for the central bank’s meeting on Wednesday. But whereas the consensus is expecting the BoK to step up the pace of tightening and raise rates by 50bp, we think policymakers will play it safe with another 25bp hike.
