Did the hurricanes lead to a surge in delinquencies?

The first report on mortgage delinquencies since the September hurricanes shows a large rise in payment problems in both Texas and Florida. But we suspect that primarily represents borrowers who could not work that month taking advantage of lender forbearance. Accordingly, delinquencies should fall back in the final quarter of the year, with the eventual rise far smaller than this initial report implies.
