Housing Starts (Jan.)

January’s 12.2% decline in single-family housing starts reversed the solid gains seen in December. Record low inventory is supporting homebuilder confidence, and that points to a strong year for housing starts. But the shortage in lots, labour and materials means homebuilders face strong headwinds. Overall, we think that single-family starts will average around 1.24m in 2021.
