Despite the solid payrolls data for December, there was a clear softening in employment growth in several large metros. But those that have performed the best since the pandemic continue to outperform, with Tampa and Dallas still doing well. The picture for office jobs is more downbeat, with the majority of metros seeing a month-on-month decline in December and there is worse to come, thanks to the large numbers of tech layoffs as well as cuts to banking and brokerage teams.
