Mexico Interest Rate Announcement (Aug.)

Mexico’s central bank (Banxico) lowered its policy rate by a smaller 25bp, to 7.75%, as expected at today’s meeting and the accompanying communications suggest that cuts are likely to continue in smaller steps at the upcoming meetings. We maintain our forecast for the policy rate to end this year at 7.00%, which is a bit more dovish than most analysts’ forecasts.
