Will business investment remain sluggish?

Investment by Japanese firms has been disappointingly weak recently. Capacity utilisation is high and firms are in a strong financial position to step up spending, but we nonetheless expect the recent deterioration in corporate sentiment to weigh on investment in coming quarters. Our forecast is that investment spending will fall both next year and in 2018.
