Dollar bear case is unconvincing

While the US dollar has strengthened over recent days and remains near its highest level since 2002 on a trade-weighted basis, investors and forecasters appear increasingly bearish on the outlook for the greenback. In our view, though, the dollar is likely to stay strong and could rise further next year.
