Employment outperformance set to end

The stronger employment recovery in Canada than the US seems to reflect several factors including wage subsidies, less immediate pressure on the finances of regional governments, and the faster re-opening of schools. But with new restrictions imposed this month amid rising cases of COVID-19, and the value of the wage subsidies recently reduced, this employment outperformance looks set to end.
