Canada Weekly: Bank still navigating uncertain terrain

While the Bank of Canada maintained the same rationale for holding rates steady in July as it did in June, our initial reaction to the meeting’s communications was that the tone had shifted, suggesting a clear tilt toward future cuts once trade uncertainty clears. Having now had more time to parse through the details of the Monetary Policy Report (MPR) released alongside the decision, we stand by that thinking.
