Nigeria: rebasing lifts GDP but realities unchanged

The rebasing exercise by Nigeria’s statistics office means that the economy is now estimated to be more than 30% larger than previously thought. While the national accounts data now better reflect the size and composition of the economy, it doesn’t change the fact that further progress on economic reforms is needed to lift GDP growth from current low rates and to tackle problems in the public finances.
