Housing Starts (Oct.)

A steady rise in new home sales since the start of the year helped single-family building permits reach a 12-year high in October. A gradual move toward constructing starter homes, which are in short supply, is helping the recovery in building volumes. That will help push starts higher over the next year or so although a slowing economy, and ongoing lot and labour shortages, argue against a rapid rise in activity.
