Housing Starts (Apr.)

Single-family starts dropped back in April and continue to underperform building permits. This adds to the evidence that high lumber and other material prices are constraining housing starts. But lumber prices are now starting to fall back, and alongside strong new home demand we expect starts will average 1.16m annualised in 2021, up 16% on last year.
