Durable Goods (Jun.)

Another solid rise in durable goods orders in June left core orders just 3.7% below February levels, underlining how the hit to business investment during the pandemic has been relatively mild. Surveys suggest that recovery continued into July, but with most of the lost ground already made up and clear signs that consumption growth has slowed dramatically in recent weeks, the recovery over the coming months looks set to be much more moderate.
