Markets could soon lose their appetite for risk again

Risk appetite has begun to return, but the economic and financial backdrop remains unusually uncertain. A renewed deterioration in the economic data, disappointing corporate earnings or fresh shocks from the financial sector are all credible threats that could derail the recovery. Hopes of a renewed bull market in equities and commodities may therefore prove to be another false dawn, while government bonds and the dollar should rally further.
