New Home Sales (May)

As expected, new home sales bounced back from their large drop in April, with a solid 2.9% m/m rise in May. A strong economic backdrop and relatively large inventory of new homes should underpin sales for the rest of the year. But with the median sales price reaching a record high, first-time buyers will have difficulties finding a suitable property. That argues for a steady, rather than rapid, rise in sales.
