The modest recovery in new home sales continued in February reflecting support from price reductions and incentives offered by homebuilders, as well as a tight existing home market pushing buyers to the new build sector. As mortgage rates fall over the remainder of the year, improving affordability will support a continuation of that trend with new home sales reaching 680,000 annualised by year-end.
