The further large fall in house prices recorded by Halifax in December suggests that the house price correction is further advanced than we previously thought. Indeed, while the Nationwide figures point to a relatively modest 2.5% drop in prices so far, the Halifax house price index has already dropped by 4.3% from its August 2022 peak.
