In response to Governor Ueda’s hawkish comments, we’re bringing forward our forecast for the next rate hike from October to September. That would imply a marked acceleration in the Bank’s tightening cycle and is consistent with our view that the Bank will hike rates to a neutral level of 2% as soon as next year.
