Which states have the brightest manufacturing prospects?

Recent free-trade deals are likely to reinforce rather than reshape the hierarchy of manufacturing ambitions in India. Gujarat and Tamil Nadu remain the states with the strongest medium-term growth prospects. Both have attracted a large share of recent investment in sectors such as electronics and semiconductors while offering relatively strong infrastructure – particularly in energy – and stable business environments. But Karnataka and Odisha are emerging as credible challengers.
