PMIs don’t alter the weak outlook for 2024

The manufacturing PMI surveys have overstated the weakness in industrial production over the past couple years. But, even taking this into account, November’s PMIs suggest that while global industry might be past the worst, it looks set to end 2023 and start 2024 on a weak footing.
