German Industrial Production (August)

The slump in German industrial production in August was partly due to temporary car plant closures for the summer holidays, which should prove temporary. But that wasn’t the whole story and previous signs of a tentative recovery in the sector have now been erased. Our forecast for industry to continue to struggle is one of the reasons why we expect German GDP growth to underwhelm in the coming years despite the upcoming big loosening of fiscal policy.
