The further increase in the Ifo Business Climate Index in January confirms that the recovery in German business sentiment that started at the end of 2022 has continued this year. But the fall in its current conditions index is a reminder that the economy is not out of the woods yet. We think GDP will at best stagnate in the first half of the year.
