MPR shining light on monetary policy thinking in SA

The South African Reserve Bank’s Monetary Policy Review (MPR), published this week, made it clear that the central bank is increasingly incorporating fiscal risks into its interest rate projections and decision making process. The poor state of the public finances appears to be tilting the balance on the MPC in a more hawkish direction.
